Ok, some things have got complete f*cked up and I have no idea why. I have been trying to contact the guy who is hosting this website so he can fix the admin cp for me to change things (add new forums etc).
This site was an idea between the guy and myself, only I didn't have a server at the time so he took to hosting it. When I asked him to try and fix it this was the reply:
"I actually sold that site some time ago. Unfortunately I no longer have contact info for new owner."
Not dwelling on how unfair this actually is considering that it was meant to be a joint effort, it leaves us with a big problem. Namely, that this forum cannot expand or do anything in the way of administration. It also leaves us running an outdated version of MyBB which is bug prone and could be hacked, leaving us with no site at all. I can therefore only propose two things:
1) I have the domain atheistforums.org, which I could host on my server with full control. An admin team could be set up (democratic votes of course) and we could run the forum fresh. We would lose a lot of posts, and there would be no real way of getting them back.
2) I already run a fledgling forums over at my blog (http://atheistblogger.com/forums) and it already has quite a few posts although it has recently fallen into disuse. However I understand that it wouldn't be quite as generalized as these forums.
I can only apologize for this massive problem. I trusted the previous owner quite a lot but that seems to have been misplaced. What was meant to be a joint effort (despite him not even posting here) turned into a disaster. I want to get things sorted as quickly as possible, so your comments are appreciated.
A few of you would probably want to keep these forums and just forget about everything, but this is dangerous thinking. I have no idea who the new owner is, and he could decide to pull the plug at any moment. Without a working admin cp or his contact details, I cannot resolve this problem, and I know for certain that there are vulnerabilities in this version of MyBB (I used to work on the MyBB Team).
The quicker we sort this out the faster we can rebuild our community.
